Good luck good luck good luck! The anticipation is hard, I know, but try to get as much rest as you can. I was telling a friend yesterday that I was pretty well prepared for the three months of pregnancy where I wouldn’t sleep more than four hours at a stretch, the two days of early labor, and the 20 hours of active labor — but I hadn’t really conceptualized that when you cross that particular finish line, you start a new race immediately, and this one’s a marathon. It’s like, “CONGRATS — now have this baby! Now now now! Feed it. All the time. Don’t sleep. Ever. And enjoy your hemorrhoids.” Yikes!!

You guys are going to be amazing moms. Motherhood is the most amazing experience I’ve ever had. It didn’t feel that way for the first six weeks or so (I was a little shellshocked) but it really does get awesomely cool. I often look at Dahlia and think about all the things that had to happen, good and bad, throughout my life, to end up with this one particular little person. It is mindblowing.

We are SO excited for you both and we know you’ll be amazing mothers. Come on, Taffy!

  • Oh, I remember that feeling well. And our boy was 1 week late. And labor was brought on by a membrane sweep. These kids can be stubborn sometimes ;-) Just remember, it’ll all be over soon and you’ll have your little one in your arms. Any day now…
