I don’t often post about politics here. I’m one of those people who’s intensely interested in politics from a distance. I have the hardest time following the ins and outs and the whys of things, especially things like Proposition 8.

For those of you who may not know yet, Proposition 8 is an attempt to overturn the legal right of two women or two men to marry each other in California. Unfortunately, it’s been getting a lot of support, financial and otherwise from across the country from those who think that gay marriage is just the top of a slippery slope. (Although the only place that slope really leads is gay divorce.)

I can hear you now: Why does it matter to me, I don’t live in California? It matters because what happens in California will affect any other state’s capability to legalize the right to marriage for all. If Prop. 8 succeeds in California then who knows what right will be next to be taken away.
